Wavefest Updates

Press Release

This year Wave-Fest will be held during

Cruisin’ the Coast.

This will be the sixth year that the Coleman Avenue Coalition and the City of Waveland, MS have planned Wave-Fest. Four of those five years were great successes as thousands enjoyed the music, arts and crafts, food and fun that filled the Avenue and the Beach. Last year Katrina hit the Monday before Wave-Fest. Coleman Avenue and most of Waveland were totally destroyed. This year we are planning a two day event that will bring back the pre-Katrina fun.

Friday, October 6 -- Especially for Cruisers

Breakfast Vendors for Early Morning Risers…..8:00 am

”Burn-Out Alley”………………………...10am-4pm

This is fun to watch as the muscle cars, and others use the Avenue as a place to scratch off

Like they did in the 50’s, leaving rubber on the street

“50’s Sock Hop & Costume Contest & Dance Contest”………… 8:00 pm-11pm

All day long --- Live Bands, Food and Beverages, Arts & Crafts, Games & Rides

And the ever popular………….…..”Fireworks Display”……………………At Dusk

Saturday, October 7… Sandsculpting Contest…10am-2pm; Music, Community Entertainment, Food, Arts & Crafts

All monies collected go to pay Wave-Fest expenses (bands, tents, stages, fireworks, prizes, and advertising). Any monies that remain go for next year’s expenses and for improvements on Coleman Avenue - Waveland’s Old Downtown. We hope you will participate and help make this the best Wave-Fest ever! Thank you.
